The general belief is that to go on a keto diet is to avoid all root vegetables because most of them are overly starchy. Nevertheless, that is not the case for radish.

Unlike, it’s another root vegetable counterpart, radish contains less starch. Radish contains nothing less than 0.1g of carb in a medium-sized cup of radish. That automatically means you would need to consume 10 medium-sized cups of radish to eat 10g of carbs. And we all know that is a lot of radish for one meal.

I can still remember when I embarked on a personal keto diet journey, so I could shake off some weight. It was quite difficult for me because I constantly had to ask questions. To drink enough water daily or to eat food containing sufficient water is to help yourself lose weight. And radish doesn’t disappoint in this area too. You might not know this, but your radish might keep you hydrated just as much as your bottle or cup of water. Radish contains 95.3% of water, enough to keep you hydrated prevent weight gain.

  4. Cyclical Ketogenic Diet (CKD): The diet is regulated in a cycle. For five days, individuals on this diet are directed to be on a ketogenic diet. While for the other two days of the week, they are on a high carb diet.

These types of diets are strictly based on the purpose of going on a diet. The health condition of the individuals involved is also taken into consideration so that it would be effective.

Is Radish ok on Keto?

Korean radish is low in carbs and is, therefore, a keto vegetable. The generic name for Korean radish is Mu, one of the various types of white radish that also has a super crunchy feel.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized Korean radish (Mu)
  • 2½ tablespoon salt
  • 2 cup of white vinegar
  • 2 cups of clean water
  • ½ cup of Erythritol

Instructions

  1. Wash the radish properly, you can even scrub if necessary. Peel off the skin with sharp-edged carefully.
  2. Cut the peeled radish into any shape of your choice. It could be round, cube, or long sizes—whatever shape would look good on your plate.
  3. Put the cut radish into an air-tight jar.
  4. To a bowl, add the salt, water, erythritol, and vinegar to the bowl and mix properly.
  5. Empty vinegar content into the jar and place it in a refrigerator. It should be refrigerated for 4-5 days. This can be served alongside any Korean dish of your choice.

Note: The best kind of Korean radish to look out for is the smooth and clean bodied radish, just in case you go grocery shopping.
